1/6th scale custom made gladius... from actual forged steel. That blade is heavy! I used bone & wood beads to make up the hilt.

The scabbard is hand painted leather trimmed with strips of brass.

The headband/helmet is made from leather that's been handpainted to a metallic green.

The shield (scutum) is tooled leather that was hand painted. It's backed with thin strips of maple shaped into it curve, and then framed with brass.

Helia is available for purchase on my site!

Best be careful that a badger or something doesn't get hold of them, lest they steal the knowledge and stage a rebellion <.<

It was a ton of work, but very rewarding once it was done.
Thank-you!

That's awesome! Did you forge the steel yourself? O-O

Thank-you!

The blade (which btw has a full tang) was created from a strip of hard steel that I hammered a bevel into, and then filed, sanded, and finally polished to as close to a mirror finish as I could. In all I probably spent over 20 hours on it.

Wow, that's so cool! * u *
I almost got into metal work but then I was too scared of hot burny things and sharp stabby things. ^ n ^

LOL... that's why I didn't go as far as to put a sharp edge to it. I KNOW I would be cutting myself more than once!

I said it once and I'll say it again...Wow!I love it. You did a great job on the shield's tiny little details and the sword and the scabbard, and the helmet. Okay, I love all of it.
